It's three in the morning and I'm trying to change your mind

I think I deserve an award for managing to tear myself away from eating samples of homemade pop-tarts (made by Cupcake Cafe in Leeds) long enough to give my blog a little attention. This weekend has been a bit of a crazy one. Aside from acquiring lots of cake, pop tarts and moustache biscuits after Iron Cupcake Leeds and also having a baking disaster when I tried to enter the competition myself (I'm trying to erase that part of the weekend from my memory- it caused me far too much distress!) I've just been hanging with my friends which has been looovely. We had a house night out on Friday with a few friends to a Rock and Roll night in Leeds which was great fun and one of those nights where I spent half of the time stood at the DJ booth requesting songs (all of which actually got played so top marks to him for that... usually DJs just roll their eyes at me when I start dictating what they should play!). 

Speaking of music... the new Arctic Monkeys song has been played about 6000 times in our household this weekend and I've spent the last few days wandering about singing "why'd you only call me when you're high?". I realised today that although that may be appropriate behaviour in the comfort of my own home, it doesn't quite have the same effect when I sing it at work. Whoops.

Anyway, this is one of my new favourite items in my wardrobe. I've been trying on so many dresses lately and all to often find myself wishing that smocks didn't make me look like an 8 man tent. I've decided that sticking to ever so slightly baggy skater dresses is more my way of doing things.

What's up with my heart when it skips a beat?

In case I haven't mentioned it enough already, I bloody love Liverpool.

 Even walking down what would be a pretty boring and non-descript through-road just off Bold Street is turned into an experience in my fair city. I've walked past this street hundreds of times as well as similar walls in other areas of town which form part of a set of installations called Visible Virals which were part of Liverpool's Capital of Culture year back in 2008. The walls all have questions like "Are you happy?" and "Do you worry about global climate change?" painted across them, and I think they're just incredible as a way of getting passers by thinking about some serious issues as they potter around town. I'm so glad that a few of these virals have lasted for so long after they were originally intended, as it just adds to the endless things to see in the city centre. 

Plus it makes for a good backdrop for photos... what more could you ask for really?!

Plus, on the other side of the road from the climate change viral, I found this little gem that made me smile.

So there you have it, another post which further reinforces my love for Liverpool and also my undying love for a good moustache.

I should probably try to get some other interests soon so I can stop boring you all with my incessant chatter about facial hair and my hometown.

One of the few shops I can tolerate at sale time is Urban Outfitters, particularly when it comes to rifling through their gorgeous jewellery. However, my mission to find cheap jewellery went a little bit wrong when I found this necklace nestled amongst all of the sale stuff without a sale sticker on it. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that one of the sales advisors had just forgotten to mark this one down I took it to the till to check the price because I didn't particularly want to pay full price for it. But apparently I did actually like it enough to pay £18 because when the girl at the till offered to put it back for me I practically threw my bank card at her shouting "It's ok, I'll buy it anyway". I'm great at sales shopping.

Also, if you haven't heard it being played on Radio 1 this week, then check out the song below by Swim Deep. They'd been floating around for quite a while in 2012 and I've become a little bit obsessed. It looks like they're set for big things this year :)
