Cos I can't go on, if your love isn't strong

This weekend has been a brilliant one. Yes, there was snow, but that wasn't by any means one of the most memorable parts of the weekend as with the exception of enjoying the satisfaction of the untouched snow making that crunching sound under my wellies (does anyone else love that as much as me?!) as we wandered to various places, we really didn't spend much time in the great outdoors at all!

It was a special weekend because we were finally reunited with one of our lovely friends who'd been off galavanting around the world for a few months (too jealous). True to our form, we celebrated with too much food, a night out (which after a poor effort from the taxi company turned into a night drinking in our pjs whilst playing Singstar...), and just generally spending a lot of time being the silly little souls that we are.

Oh and we went to see Les Mis too. This is pretty much the main reason as to why we didn't really get to see much snow. The cinema dominated our entire afternoon as we'd gone to Cottage Road in Leeds, an incredibly cute little old fashioned cinema with a lovely atmosphere and an added bonus of being insanely cheap compared to the big name cinemas, so old fashioned that they had an interval in the middle of the film. I can't complain about missing the snow for the film though, it lived up to all the hype and was absolutely mesmerising! Inevitably, we then spent the rest of the weekend bursting into song at every possible moment.

  1. I love the crunch of new snow! Not many things I like about snow, but that is one of the few!
Ah I saw Les Mis last weekend, thought it was amazing! I NEED to see the west end production again very soon! xx

    1. The crunchy sound of snow is so much better than the horrible slush that seems to have taken over Leeds at the moment!
I was so impressed, I'd love to see it on stage one day! x

  2. Ah I really need to find time to go and see Les Mis, I feel like the only person who still hasn't seen it! I've spent too much time in the snow this weekend, I think I prefer watching it fall from the comfort of the warmer side of the window, haha. Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, too! x

  3. Love the idea of an interval half way through! I couldn't stop sobbing when I went to see Les Mis :( can't tempt fate by bursting into song because it will probably be accompanied by tears. Oh dear. Make the most of the crunchy snow underfoot. It's all gone here in Edinburgh! Sad times xx

    1. Apparently they have intervals at this cinema regardless of how long the film is... it was definitely needed so I could stretch myself in the middle of this one though!
I'm amazed I managed to hold back the tears, it was such an emotional rollercoaster. x

  4. Aw I love old cinemas like these (: We used to have one where I live but unfortunately it closed down because of the big new one getting more custom! It had intervals too - they're the best thing about films! (: Sounds like a brilliant weekend though, who wants to brave artic temperatures on a night out anyhow! (: xx

    1. It was such a lovely place to go, far more character than the Vue we go to normally. We're lucky enough to have two old fashioned cinemas very close to each other in Leeds, fingers crossed they seem to be holding out quite well against the giants. Our thoughts exactly, we were quite glad of an excuse to go back inside and put our pjs on really :P x

  5. Hello! I just stumbled across your blog. This is the loveliest post. I saw Les Mis on Boxing Day and it is now one of my favourite films, I was absolutely stunned by it. It was perfect! That dessert looks so delicious. :D

  6. There's an old cinema like that near to where I live and it's so cute - they even sell ice creams before the film and during the interval! X
